Hon. María M. Cabrera-Torres, J.D., L.L.M. began as a Superior Court Judge in 2007. She presides over a specialized court for Tort Law in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Some of the cases she oversees include medical malpractice and hospital negligence. Moreover, she has handled high-profile cases and complex litigation. Furthermore, she has served in academia as an Associate Dean of Students Affairs and adjunct professor for law students and led seminars for attorneys and judges.
In the early phase of her career, she worked as an attorney for 8 years where she advised and represented clients through litigation of civil, criminal, and administrative cases. She is now excited to form part of the Neurotech Justice Accelerator at Mass General Brigham, where she is focusing on the intersection of law, neuroscience, and neuroethics as they relate to neurotechnology.
Judge Cabrera-Torres completed her bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Central Florida. She then earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the Eugenio María de Hostos School of Law in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. Next, she earned a Master’s of Law in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution, summa cum laude, from the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law.
